With the name Green Mountain Flavors, Inc., shouldn’t you be located in Vermont instead of Illinois? We began operations in Vermont in 1992, and relocated to Illinois in 2006. We opted to maintain the “Green Mountain” in our company name after our move to pay homage to the state where our company was “born”.

How can you call your flavors and extracts “natural”? I thought the FDA did not have a definition for “natural”. While the FDA does not define “natural” for most foods or beverages, it does have a definition for “natural flavors” in FDA 21 CFR Part 101.22(a)(3): "natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional. Natural flavors include [but not exclusively] the natural essences or extractives obtained from plants listed in §§182.10, 182.20, 182.40, and 182.50 and part 184 of this chapter, and the substances listed in §172.510 of this chapter."
If a flavor is labeled as “natural”, is it all-natural? Not necessarily. The FDA allows you to label a flavor as natural if all of its flavoring components are natural, however, many “natural” flavors also contain artificial/synthetic non-flavoring ingredients, such as propylene glycol (a synthetic solvent), artificial FD&C colors, artificial preservatives (such as sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate), polysorbate 80, etc. None of our standard flavors or extracts contains any of these artificial/synthetic non-flavoring ingredients.
What does “WONF” mean? “With Other Natural Flavors”.
Do you add colors to your flavors and extracts? No. However, we offer a line of water-soluble colors derived from natural sources which find use in a wide variety of food and beverage applications.
Do you sell online? No.
Do you sell to individual consumers? No. We supply commercial users (manufacturers, food service, etc.) in the food and beverage industries, as well as retailers. We do not sell to individual consumers.
